| MISSION STATEMENT: The purpose of the commission shall be to act as a liaison between the legislature, public safety officials, the Department of Elderly Affairs, and the older population of Rhode Island in the area of crime against the elderly, fire safety, and protective service options available to the elderly. |

Anna Tucker TUCKER, ANNA A. (MOSKALYK), 92, of Treasure Rd., Narragansett, formerly of West Warwick, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at St Elizabeth Manor, Bristol. She was the beloved wife of Robert S. Tucker, former State Representative District 41, they had been married for 68 years. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Luke and Ksenka (Krawczuk) Moskalyk. She was a resident of West Warwick for many years before moving to Narragansett in 1993. Mrs. Tucker was the first Director for the R.I. Department of Elderly Affairs for 7 years before retiring; she worked for the Department of Labor for 34 years. She was an extremely active and vibrant member of civic, professional, humanitarian and community organizations. She served on the board for Muscular Dystrophy, Commission for the Safety and Care of the Elderly, Rhode Island Women's Commission, Rhode Island Episcopal Housing Foundation, West Minister Senior Center, and Central Adult Care Services to name a few. She was inducted into the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Heritage and West Warwick Hall of Fame. A long time supporter of URI she received the URI Distinguished Alumni Award. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women. In 1981 she was honored as Women of the Year. In 1993 she was the recipient of the Robert McCreanor Senior Service Award for outstanding contributions to older citizens of Rhode Island.. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Anna Tucker Women's Athletic Scholarship, c/o URI Foundation, P.O. Box 1700, Kingston, RI 02881 in her memory. |
