Do you want to have Brunch with the Governor? The Department of Elderly Affairs (DEA) has your invitation.
DEA is looking for Rhode Island centenarians to attend the 32 nd annual Governor’s Centenarians Brunch on Wednesday, 6 at the Capitol Ridge at Providence assisted living center (8:30 to 10:00 a.m.).
“The Centenarians Brunch is one of our annual celebrations during May, which is Older Americans Month,” observed Corinne Calise Russo, DEA Director.
“This year we observe Older Americans Month under the banner of ‘Living Today for a Better Tomorrow.’ This theme emphasizes the ever-changing landscape in senior programs and services. We want elders to live independently for as long as possible and to give them, their families and caregivers options for elder care,” she declared.
Anyone who is 100 years of age or older, including those who will reach their 100 th birthday this year, are eligible to receive an invitation to the Brunch. Last year, DEA located more than 150 centenarians living in the state and 60 attended the celebration.
For information on registering a centenarian for the Brunch, call Lisa DiNobile at 462-0501 or e-mail her at lisad@dea.state.ri.us.
