Rhode Island Senior Medicare Patrol
Since 2006, the Rhode Island Department of Human Services, Division of Elderly Affairs (RIDEA) has utilized Administration for Community Living/Administration on Aging (ACL/AoA) funding to effectively administer and promote the statewide RI Senior Medicare Patrol project (RI SMP). The mission of the RI SMP has been to enlist senior volunteers to work with S MP regional partner agencies to educate and assist Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries , family members, and caregivers throughout Rhode Island to protect personal healthcare information, detect healthcare errors, waste, fraud, and abuse, and to resolve suspected instances of healthcare fraud, errors or abuse.
RIDEA continues efforts to expand the SMP senior volunteer workforce to aid in ongoing efforts to reach educate and assist greater numbers of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries in every Rhode Island community from diverse backgrounds.
